Project: Can We Overcome Racism? A Case Study of South Africa
SUMMARY
Goals
Details
Duration: 60 minutes
Description
This should happen at approximately the same time as Questioning #3 English Language Arts.
1. In groups, students narrow their group's lists of questions about South Africa to prepare for a Socratic Seminar in ELA.
2. They discuss with each other which questions are most important based on the little background information they now have about South Africa. (This background information has come from the Gallery Walk Images; "Franklin & Tutu: A Journey Toward Peace" video clip; Teacher's Curriculum Institute's Overview of Apartheid, the first few chapters of "Kaffir Boy" and "Facing the Truth" video clips.)
