Project Exchange
ACTIVITY: Panel Questions (Exhibition)
Project: Comparatively Speaking
SUMMARY
Goals
Show mastery of material
Details
Duration: 45 minutes
Assessments: Performance/presentation (i.e. speech, play), Oral defense
Description
As part of the exhibition, students were expected to answer questions about their research papers and talkshows to show mastery of the content. Students were not given the questions before exhibtion night. This required them to re-read their research papers to ensure that they knew the material well enough to respond to questions that asked them to synthesize information.
The attached documents are questions we came up with for some of our students for the panel questions. We gave these documents to the panelists (teachers) at the exhibition and encouraged the panelists to ask follow up questions and really challenge the students.

REFLECTIONS & COMMENTS
Author Reflections
This reminded me of a college dissertation (maybe that's a bit strong!). Students were really nervous about the questions they would be asked! The questions were challenging. After the exhibition, there was one student who told us that she felt we were too easy on her compared to other students. The kdis liked the feeling of being an expert. They were proud that they knew more about their topic than most people in the room.
