ACTIVITY: Memorized Passage

Project: The Odyssey Mosaic Retelling

SUMMARY

Description

A significant feature of The Odyssey is that it was created, memorized, and performed as a song long before it was ever written down.

In the spirit of this oral tradition, students must memorize at least ten lines from The Odyssey that relate to the art piece they have created. One homework assignment can be the choice of the ten lines. The next assignment is the memorization and recitation of the lines in class, another opportunity to practice Envision oral speaking skills.

Later, the students will recite their memorized passages when they present their art pieces in the evening exhibition.
