SUMMARY
Goals
Students research the science behind their myth which will be part of their Mythbusters episode
Details
Duration: 60 minutes
Assessments: Research
Materials: Copies of the Research Brief document (see Activity Resources)
Description
During this benchmark, students identify and research the scientific concepts associated with their myth. The specific concepts will vary depending on thier myth, but all students can follow general researching tasks using the internet or other research sources.
Groups divide their research topics among group members so all group members can be working on this benchmark activity.
Thier research will be incorporated to some extent into their mythbusters episode. There is a teacher signoff step on the research so as a teacher you can ensure their research is complete and accurate and uses reputable sources.

REFLECTIONS & COMMENTS
Author Reflections
This is a great activity when someone in the group says "I don't have anything to work on". They can always do research on thier myth. The teacher should have plenty of the Research Brief documents available so students can grab another one when they need one or lose them.
