Project: "The Tempest" Video Project

SUMMARY

Duration: 30 minutes

Assessments: Student writing

Description

I asked each student individually to come up with a proposal for a video project. I gave them a little bit of time to work on it in class, and then I had them take it home for homework. During the next class, I collected their proposals and then grouped them by common ideas. I then read the proposals out to the class and gave students to group themselves according to which idea they wanted to work on. In this way, students were able to form their own groups based on common interest.

REFLECTIONS & COMMENTS

Author Reflections

Of course some students had already consulted and had turned in the same proposal so that they would end up in a group with their friends, but other students came up with ideas on their own and still others had no idea what to write. The proposal activity was a good opportunity for student leaders to put forth their ideas and for other students to choose a group based on content and not only people.
