ACTIVITY: Greenbacks or Greenspace: Reflection
Project: Greenbacks or Greenspace: Decisions about San Francisco Land Use (IMP 3)
SUMMARY
Goals
The goal of this activity if for students to reflect on the whole process of exploring this problem and writing the proposal.
Details
Duration: 75 minutes
Assessments: Student reflections/journals, Student writing
Description
This section allowed students to reflect on the process they went through to solve this problem and write up a report describing their process. Since this activity was at the end of the year, I added an end of the year reflection question to it--you don't have to.
The reflection section should answer the following questions:
* Where could errors have altered the solution? How would each error affect it?
* How did you use and grow on the leadership skills being assessed (Solve Problems Resourcefully and Communicate with Clarity and Precision)? What do you still need to work on?
* What was difficult about the problem solving process? What did you do to overcome the difficulties?
* How have you felt about math this year? What things helped you succeed? What was missing from the class?

REFLECTIONS & COMMENTS
Author Reflections
This was the most enlightening part for me. Students really were honest about the class as a whole and many of them said that this project was daunting at first, but as they went through it, it became more manageable.
