Project Exchange
ACTIVITY: Performance Requirements (The Exhibition)
Project: The Immigrant's Song
SUMMARY
Goals
Get into character
Details
Duration: 60 minutes
Assessments: Student discussions
Description
1. After the students polished their written monologues, they were required to start memorizing their lines.
2. While this was happening we used this handout to describe:
-the "flow" of the evening
-the purpose of props and costumes
-their character's "objective" and
-what they will be doing on stage
3. While we were teaching the students how to "get into character" and adopt another viewpoint, we invited actors from Out of Site into our classes to take our students through theatre games and activities to loosen them up for the big night.
