To show students written monologue expectations
Details
Duration: 60 minutes
Assessments: Student discussions, Student writing
Materials: The "good" monologue is an excrpt from Anne Raeff's book, "Clara Mondschein's Melancholia."
Description
1. This activity was one of the first activities we completed. We read the "bad" monolgue as a class and then answered the questions as a class. Students read the "good" monologue in groups, answered the questions in groups, and then we reviewed the answers as a whole class.
2. We followed this activity with mini-lessons on the craft of creative writing.

REFLECTIONS & COMMENTS
Author Reflections
We needed to create models of monologues because we did not have any student work. In the future, I would use a student sample (there are two samples included in the "Project Launch" link).
